Why Your Insurance Agent Should Be Local
By Bill Smith · 5 min read
I'm not against technology. I use it every day to compare rates, manage policies, and communicate with carriers. But when it comes to who handles your insurance, I believe local matters. Here's why.
Local Knowledge Matters for Coverage
An agent in Anytown knows that spring storms bring hail, that the Route 9 corridor is an accident hotspot, and that older homes in the Westside neighborhood need extra attention on their plumbing endorsements. An 800-number agent in another state doesn't know any of that. Local knowledge directly affects the coverage recommendations you get.
Local Knowledge Matters for Claims
When the Hendersons had a house fire, I was at their door the next morning. I knew the best local contractors, I knew the hotel that offers insurance rates, and I knew the adjuster's direct line. When you deal with a call center, you get whoever happens to be available. When you call Main Street Insurance, you get me.
Accountability You Can See
My office is at 300 Pine Street. You can walk in anytime. I'm a member of the Chamber of Commerce, I coach Little League, and I see my clients at the grocery store. I can't hide behind a phone tree or a corporate policy. My reputation is my business and I protect it the same way I protect my clients.
It Doesn't Cost More
People sometimes assume a local agent costs more than buying online. It doesn't. I'm compensated by the insurance carriers, not by you. And because I shop 30+ carriers, I often find lower rates than what you'd get going direct. You get personal service at the same price, or less.
Insurance is personal. It protects your home, your family, and your business. I believe that kind of protection deserves a real relationship, not a chatbot. If you'd like to talk about your coverage, my door is always open. Call (800) 555-0302.

Insurance Is About More Than Price.
It's About Who Picks Up the Phone.
When you work with Main Street Insurance, you get a real person who knows your name, your family, and your coverage. That's what local insurance is all about.
