Our Story
The Family Behind the Agency
We're Maria and Tom Rodriguez, and we've been married for 28 years. We started Hometown Medicare Help in 2014 after Tom's mother went through a frustrating experience trying to figure out her Medicare options on her own. She ended up in a plan that didn't cover her medications and cost her hundreds of dollars more than it should have. We knew we could do better for the families in our community.
Tom handles the research side. He loves diving into the details of plan comparisons and making sure every option is accounted for. Maria is the people person. She's the one you'll probably talk to first when you call or stop by. Together, we make a pretty good team.
We're not a big corporation or a call center. We're your neighbors. We live here, we shop here, and our kids went to school here. When you come to us for help with Medicare, you're not a number. You're family.

Throughout the year, you'll find us at local senior centers, libraries, and community events offering free Medicare presentations and answering questions. We're regulars at the Lexington Senior Center, where we host a monthly “Medicare Q&A” session that's open to everyone.

Questions We Hear a Lot
Give us a call or stop by the office. That’s honestly the easiest first step. We’ll sit down with you, learn about your situation, and walk you through your options in plain language. If you’re turning 65 soon, we recommend reaching out about three months before your birthday so we have plenty of time to review everything together. And don’t worry if you feel like you don’t know anything about Medicare yet. That’s exactly what we’re here for.
Not a penny. Our service is completely free to you. We’re paid by the insurance carriers when we help you enroll in a plan, and we’re paid the same amount regardless of which plan you choose. That means we have no reason to push you toward one plan over another. Our only goal is to find the right fit for you. The coffee’s free too.
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. Medicare decisions often affect both partners, and it’s helpful to have everyone on the same page. If you’d like, we can review both of your coverages at the same time. We always have enough coffee for everyone.
