Longleaf started with one daughter caring for her mother
We are not a national brand with a local franchise. We are an owner-led agency, rooted here, started by someone who has sat exactly where you are sitting now.
I built the agency I wish my family had found
I spent years as a CNA, and then my own mother needed care. Even knowing the field, I found it overwhelming: the piecing together, the strangers, the guilt, the exhaustion. I promised myself that if I ever ran an agency, it would feel different for the family on the other end of the phone.
So in 2015, I started Longleaf. We are owner-led, which means the person whose name is on the door still knows the families and the caregivers. Today we are a team of about twenty caregivers, and we have kept the same promise: treat every parent like our own, and every worried son or daughter like a neighbor.
That is the whole reason Longleaf exists. Not to be the biggest. To be the one you are glad you called.
How we think about care
The person, not the task
A shower is a task. Helping someone feel like themselves is care. We hire for the second thing and train for the first.
Honest about what we are
We are non-medical home care. When a family needs something we are not, we say so and point them the right way. Trust is worth more than a booking.
Consistency matters
The same faces, the same routines. Familiarity is comforting, especially with memory changes, so we work hard to keep caregivers consistent.
Family is the client too
When a parent is cared for, an entire worried family can exhale. We keep you informed and treat your peace of mind as part of the job.
A small team that knows your name
Owner-led and locally rooted. When you call, you reach people who know your family's story and do not need it re-explained every time.
Marie Ellison
Founder & Owner
A former CNA who cared for her own mother through her last years. She started Longleaf in 2015 to give other families the kind of care she wished she had not had to piece together alone.
Trina Boyd
Care Coordinator
The person who builds your care plan and keeps it current. Trina has a gift for hearing what a family is not quite saying and turning it into a plan that fits.
Deborah Vance
Scheduling & Family Liaison
Often the voice you reach when you call. Deborah keeps caregivers and families in sync and makes sure someone is always covered.
James Okafor
Lead Caregiver & Trainer
One of our most experienced caregivers, and the one who trains new hires on how we do things: patiently, respectfully, and with the person always first.
We live where your parents live
Longleaf is part of Millbrook Crossing, NC. Our caregivers grew up on these streets, shop at the same stores, and know the community your parent has been part of for decades. When you trust us with your family, you are trusting neighbors, and we do not take that lightly.
Let's talk, neighbor to neighbor
Call us and tell us about your parent. Whether you are ready for care or just starting to look, we will meet you exactly where you are.
